From the Executive Director
C. Lynn Chapman

So here we are near the end of 2007. It's hard to believe that 40 years have passed since Miss Napier, our first Meals on Wheels client, received our first delivered meal. That was when we were known as Mount Dennis & Weston Meals on Wheels. Many things have changed over the last 40 years, from the different meal suppliers who have made our Meals on Wheels dinners, to the different names we have been known as, to our different locations, our changing staff, changing and evolving services, changing and growing sources of funding, to our ever growing and changing volunteers.

In fact, speaking of volunteers, I don't know if anyone has ever really stopped to think that, over the last 40 years, we have had many hundreds of different volunteers, each one special and helpful in their own way. In total, they have donated approximately 900,000 hours of their time to help seniors in our community from 1967 until now. Thank you to all of these volunteers who have helped us make a difference in the lives of our seniors.

We had a wonderful 40th anniversary open house last month to celebrate our long standing service to the community. As we turn to the next chapter of our story, this will be the final edition of our 40th anniversary newsletters. Throughout the year, we have featured different decades of our history. Please look for the fourth decade in this issue.
