Do I need to have a car/driver's license to be a volunteer?
No. Some volunteer opportunities require driving, but many do not. Volunteers who drive agency vehicles are required to have a valid driver's license and a good driving record.

How much of my time will volunteering take?
Typically, our volunteers are able to choose a volunteer opportunity that suits their schedule and availability. Our opportunities are well suited to individuals with varied work schedules.

Do I have to make a long-term commitment to volunteer?
We have a variety of short-term and long-term volunteer opportunities. We do expect our volunteers to keep the commitments that they make as seniors rely on them for service.

Will I be reimbursed for my expenses during volunteering?
Volunteer drivers and list shopping volunteers are reimbursed for their mileage. Meals on Wheels drivers are reimbursed $6.50 per route.

I'm a student. Can I complete my 40-hour community involvement with your agency?
Yes. We welcome student volunteers during the summer.

Are there volunteer opportunities for groups?
Yes. Volunteer groups are well suited to the Meals on Wheels program, special events and agency promotion volunteering. We actively pursue opportunities to develop community partnerships. The Volunteer Services Coordinator would be happy to visit your group to talk about volunteering.

Can I get a letter of reference?
The Volunteer Services Coordinator will write a letter of reference for a volunteer who has completed 30 hours or three months of volunteering.
